Notes

Zimbabwean born Richard Mudariki is a professional painter based in Cape Town, South Africa. He trained under prominent artists Helen Lieros and Greg Shaw at Gallery Delta in Harare, and holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology, Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies. Mudariki is known for his distinctive modernist paintings that offer sharp social commentary on African issues. His work has been featured in major exhibitions across South Africa, Germany, London and Zimbabwe. The present lot critiques certain African leaders who, though powerful in appearance, are controlled by wealthy benefactors. These leaders are influenced by financial incentives and personal projects, which fuel their lavish lifestyles while exploiting resources meant for their people.
