About this Item

2020 - 2022 Kevin Grant – Ataraxia - Black Chardonnay
6 (3 x 2)

6 x 750ml bottles comprising two bottles from each of the first three vintages of Ataraxia’s Black Chardonnay: 2020, 2021 and 2022

Kevin discovered the “black” method of making Chardonnay in 2020, igniting a passion for this almost forgotten Burgundian technique. He now uses it for all vintages of Ataraxia’s signature white wine, infusing his ongoing love affair with Chardonnay with a newfound spice.

This method contrasts sharply with modern winemaking practices, eschewing sulphur dioxide and inert gases for aggressive grape crushing and extended aeration. Despite its extreme nature, the results are serene and languid, promising complexity akin to magnificently aged Chardonnays.

The true test of the black method lies in the future, with Ataraxia’s Chardonnay vintages holding the promise of reward for careful cellaring, potentially maturing into beautifully regal wines over a decade or more.

This wine is packed in a wooden box.
