'Powerful full-bodied 2009 with tons of fruit and balancing fresh acidity. Finely interwoven 95% new French oak adds vanilla, hazelnut touch. Year on lees plumps richness and lingering finish.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2011, 4.5*
'Some natural ferment. Racy and silky. Should evolve well. Lots of effort!' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Oct 2011)
'I tasted the 2009 Nine Yards Chardonnay twice (both blind). Almost entirely fermented in new French oak with 12 months on the lees, it has a generous , leesy bouquet with touches of vanilla, almond flakes and white peach. The palate has a ripe, tropical tinged entry but there is also admirable acidity and purity, rendering this a very well made Chardonnay with great depth and power. Nevertheless, I was expecting just a little more tension and mineralite on the finish. Drink now-2017.' - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (Aug 2011)
