Kaapzicht is a 4th generation family-owned wine estate, located in Stellenbosch. The name Kaapzicht means ‘Cape view’ and is attributed to the beautiful views of Table Mountain and Cape Town which are seen from the farm. The Steytler family has farmed the land since 1946 and today, brothers Danie and George own the 190-hectare estate. Located on the Bottelary hill, the farm experiences a mild climate with cool sea breezes and consists of old, weathered granite soils.
Grapes come from a vineyard planted by current winemaker Danie Steytler Jnr’s great grandfather in 1947. The block has been registered as a single vineyard and it is the second oldest of this variety in the country. Originally 6ha in size, only 1ha of the very low yielding vineyard remains – total production in 2017 was 900 bottles.
