Breuil, with inscription 'To Professor C. van Riet Lowe, with unusual pleasure, from Walter Battiss, Nov 1948' on the inside front cover, accompanied by two letters to Professor van Riet Lowe, cover and spine wornand dicoloured, some staining, water damage to some pages along spine

Notes

Battiss adhered additional hand-printed colour plates, from his own drawings, in the book making this a unique copy.

Professor Clarence van Riet Lowe (1894-1956) was Professor of Archaeology at the University of the Witswatersrand.
