the gilt metal embellished with c-scrolls and foliage, with red 'jewelled' catch, the hinged cover with ring attachment, enclosing a pocket knife, pair of scissors, pair of tweezers with file, a bodkin, an ivory writing slip and a pencil holder, rust, hinge damaged, one piece lacking, 10,5cm long; and an English tortoiseshell and piqué-work example, early 19th century, the body inlaid with garlands and musical trophies, enclosing a pair of scissors, a pocket knife, an ivory writing slip, a pair of tweezers and file, a bodkin, a pencil holder and pick, 7,7cm long
