Provenance
Acquired directly from the artist by the current owner's grandparents.
"My late husband purchased this painting from Mr Sithole in 1972/73. My husband was on business at the East Driefontein mine in Springs when Mr Sithole arrived, trying to sell his paintings.... As I understand, the picture is portraying a mother taking her child to search for the father who works at the gold mines in Johannesburg. It is on cardboard as at the time he was too poor to buy the correct materials." Mrs. Lois le Roux, 2002
