'One of the Cape's most outspoken "statement" reds (since 1970s). Big, bold, definitely packs in the front row; richly rewarding when given its due time (4-10 years or more). 1996 (Wine Magazine 4*), another powerful stunner from low-yielding (4,5 tonnes per hectare), 30-year old vines which, Truter believes, were not as adversely affected by the vintage as young vines were. Rich, concentrated bouquet of blackberry, mint and wonderfully fragrant oak. Sumptuous, silky palate with blackberry and hints of chocolate, mouthcoating tannins and excellent fruity persistence.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2000, 5*
