With a history dating back over 300 years, Vergelegen has kept a simple winemaking philosophy this entire time, ‘there must be harmony between the old and the new’. Having produced fine, modern wines for two decades, Vergelegen is one of South Africa’s highest regarded, established producers. Situated on the Schaapenberg in Somerset West, overlooking False Bay. The 3,000 hectare estate is situated in one of the richest floral regions of the world and they practice sustainable farming and have various environmental projects.

Critics Ratings

'Finely spiced, some mintiness in inky/mocha thrust. 'Leavened' by about 10% Cab most years. 20 months French oak, 60% new. Merlot was first, and is now regular star turn in Vergelegen's decade-long climb to the top of modern Cape leader board.'- Platter's SA Wine Guide 2004, 4.5*
