A Japanese carved ivory figure of a fisherman, Meiji period, 1868-1912 seated on a woven mat, his right hand raised holding a staff, his left hand clutching a fish, a covered basket to his right, his tunic engraved, losses, signed, red six-character mark, 12cm high; another, of a frog catcher, carved seated, clutching a basket of frogs with delighted expression, his engraved robe adorned with leaves forming a cape with a frog perched on his left shoulder,with a frog peering out of a basket to his left thigh, signed, two-character mark, losses, the basket with the frog is loose, 8cm high
