Porcelain Vessels, three
Katherine Glenday
About the SessionIn this session, Strauss & Co presents a lovely assortment of Ceramic Art featuring works from the Sheila Nowers Collection. Sheila Nowers was a watercolour artist working on an intimate scale. In her collection is a variety of ceramics by her brother John Nowers and an assortment from his then partner, Hylton Nel. The two artists met in 1967 in London and later moved to Gqeberha where they opened an antique shop. Each artist made innovative references to iconography in world ceramics, antique Staffordshire forms, and Chinese oriental pieces from their personal collections.
