About this Item

Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Gruenchers, 2007
1 (1 x 1) 750ml

Domaine Dujac was established in 1967 by Jacques Seysses when he purchased Domaine Marcel Graillet, a poor estate of only 4.5 hectares, and renamed it Domaine du Jacques. Overtime, the name evolved into Domaine Dujac – a playful moniker. Today, they hold around 14.5 hectares and cultivate 18.5 hectares in total. Buying parcels as they became available, the domaine expanded over the years and now owns some of the most exceptional holdings, including the Grands Crus of Echézeaux, Bonnes-Mares, Clos Saint Denis, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Charmes-Chambertin and Clos de la Roche. Aiming for elegance, finesse and complexity, the quality of their seven Grands Crus is a testament to the domaine being one of the Burgundy’s leading producers.

Critics Ratings

'Pale-medium red. Candied red berries, subtle soil tones and a whiff of pepper on the nose. At once sweet and savory on the palate, with a ripe raspberry flavor perked up by minerally acidity. Rather backward today and not yet expressing itself; in fact, this seems to be closing down right now. Finishes with dusty, solid tannins and yet there's something essentially soft about this wine.' - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 90+/100 (Mar 2010)

‘Somewhat surprisingly, the aromatic profile here is a clear step up in elegance with an airy and beautifully layered mix of red and blue fruit that carries obvious mineral and floral notes over to the firm, delicious and detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess a bit more depth and length though the differences are minor. A pretty wine with a solid tannic spine that is very Chambolle in basic character. *Outstanding*’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 89-92/100 (Jan 2009)

Provenance

The Coats Family Cellar is arguably the most prestigious fine wine collection ever offered in South Africa. It contains a deep collection of the worlds finest, most sought-after wines, spanning over 150 years. Collected over many decades, the cellar was imported from Ireland to South Africa via reefer. Each bottle within the Coats Family Cellar was authenticated by Michael Egan in August 2022 and given an ID number for tracking.

Michael Egan is a world-expert in fine and rare wines with more than thirty five years of experience. He was the principal expert for the plaintiff in the two major wine counterfeiting trials in Koch v. Eric Greenberg and United States v. Rudy Kurniawan, both of which occurred in 2013.

Along with Michael Egan, the Strauss & Co Fine Wine team have tasted extensively through the cellar and are confident of the wine storage and hence quality. The entire collection is currently stored at Wine Cellar.
