About this Item
In 1984, the 38ha farm was purchased by the Mylrea family. After devastating fires that raged through the Cape in the summer of 2000, the farm was mostly destroyed, except for the historic buildings. Being part of the world famous Constantia Valley, known for its award winning wines, they decided to plant the farm with varieties that best suited the unique terroir of Eagles’ Nest.
Critics Ratings
‘After oakier 2007, the 2008 (just 30% new wood) was back to purer style. Violets, black pepper intro to creamy elegant wine, hinted at complexity - fruit-filled but subtle, ultra-soft tannins.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2012, 5*
‘The nose is very Old World with fine delineation: delicate touches of white pepper and extremely pure fruit that is completely seductive. The palate is very elegant and well defined with fine tannins and a gorgeous ripe, delicately pepper finish.’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (Aug 2011)
