About this Item
Considered among the new age icons responsible for the Swartland’s success, and a driving force behind the Swartland Revolution, Adi Badenhorst was one of the first to really believe in the area and purchased Kalmoesfontein back in 2008 with his cousin Hein. Winemaking runs in the family with Adi following in his grandfather’s footsteps, general manager of Groot Constantia, and having been involved in winemaking from the young age of 13 with impressive addresses like Rustenberg and Chateau Angelus among his resumé. Adi Badenhorst focuses on old bush vines planted in the 50’s and 60’s.
Critics Ratings
Broadly styled 2015 from 100% whole-bunch fruit delivers clean black-berried fruit interspersed with strawberry whiffs then leather, spice, perfume & pepper. Lovely pliable tannins, gorgeous silky texture. - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2018, 4.5* (94 points)
‘The family red doesn’t contain as many varieties as the white, but it’s still an intriguing quartet of mostly Shiraz with Grenache, Cinsaut and Tinta Barocca, combining grip with texture, perfume with savoury, sappy, summer pudding fruit flavours. 2017-22.’ - Tim Atkin, SA Special Report 2017, 93/100
