A Collection of Chinese Ceramics
About this Item
A Chinese 'blanc de chine' rhinoceros horn-form libation cup, Qing Dynasty, 18th century
Notes
'Blanc de chine' ware was born from the southern Chinese province of Fujian at the Dehua kilns in imitation of other rarer materials of the time, namely rhinoceros horn and ivory. This is a spectacular example of the imitation of the other materials into ceramic form.
