The Brunel family has been in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region since the 17th century and has been fully committed to making wine for five generations. The estate is divided up into three appellations: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes du Rhône and Vaucluse Vins de Pays. In 1971, André Brunel took over the reins and his endless motivation saw rapid growth for the domaine. He also made some considerable changes in the vine management process by being one of the first in Châteauneuf-du-Pape to use the ground cover and move towards a non-chemical approach to farming. In 2012, his son, Fabrice Brunel, joined the team to continue the family history.

Critics Ratings

‘The 2007 Les Cailloux (a blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 12% Syrah, and 3% other authorized varieties) comes from 60-year-old vines and is aged completely in tank except for the Mourvèdre and Syrah components, which are kept in small barrels. Explosively fruity, this dense plum/purple-colored wine displays grilled meat notes intermixed with Provencal herbs, spice box, black cherry and black currant, in addition to having a lush, opulent texture. ‘Bright ruby. Highly floral bouquet of red and dark berry preserves, potpourri, smoky minerals and white pepper. Tangy red berry flavors give way to deeper cherry and blackberry in the middle palate, with exotic floral pastille and Asian spice qualities adding complexity.
