About this Item
Bond is the brainchild of legendary Napa Valley winemakers Bill Harlan and Bob Levy and produced by the team at cult winery Harlan Estate. They first developed the idea of producing Cabernet Sauvignon from carefully selected ‘Grand Cru’ vineyard sites around the region in 1996. Each of the five small vineyards (3-5 hectares) offer a unique terroir that expresses the pinnacle of Napa Cabernet. A blend of all the sites was also launched alongside the debut release in 1999, and is aptly named The Matriarch.
VECINA is coined from the Spanish word for neighbor. This is our endeavor with the property situated directly southeast of the BOND winery.

‘Bond’s 2009 Proprietary Blend Vecina, from Vine Hill Ranch, is fascinating to taste after the St. Eden. While the St. Eden is round and sensual, the Vecina is all about linear power and structure. Endowed with tremendous length and persistence, the Vecina presents endless layers of dark fruit and expressive aromatics supported by considerable tension and energy. ‘Saturated ruby. Primary aromas of cassis, blackberry and licorice. Dense and sweet but still youthfully medicinal, with highly concentrated black fruits and saline mineral flavors coming across as very backward today and displaying limited personality.
