Notes
The initials H B & M are those of Herbert Baker and Francis Edward Masey, who worked together in an architectural practice between 1896 and 1910.
This envisioned dwelling Rust en Vrede was conceived for Cecil John Rhodes during his final years while he resided at his modest cottage in Muizenberg.
Rhodes did not live to see the completion of Rust en Vrede but Sir Abe Bailey completed the project with Baker's drawings, taking residence in 1905.
