A pair of Royal Worcester moon flasks, 1873
in the Japanese taste, each of flattened form, the necks applied with elephant-shaped handles and bamboo motifs, raised on a rectangular base with greek-key border, the bodies moulded and decorated in relief with shaped panels, one with figures of Japanese Samurai in combat, the other with a Samurai and his two attendants, the reverse with panels of Samurai badges, flags and armour enclosed by a cream ground and highlighted with stippled gilt spots, chips to both, one flask repaired and riveted, puce and impressed factory mark, part paper label, 33,5cm high
