A Chinese hardwood and marble scholars table, Qing Dynasty, late 19th century
the rectangular top set with a mottled rouge-marble plaque, the sides incorporating handles carved as bamboo, with bird and berry terminals, the front and reverse with a conforming carved frieze, raised on four bamboo zoomorphic feet, united by turned side stretchers, 20cm high, 43,5cm wide, 24cm deep
