'His subject matter is sympathetic - figures, buildings and still life, rendered in warm muted tones and realistic conventions … There is a quality of intimacy about his studies, which is a function of the close-up view … His technique is characterised by the gradual transition of tones across the composition and the generally creamy consistency of his oil medium."
