Lot 109

Riesling, 2011
12 (2 x 6) 750ml
Spioenkop was established in 1998 and is located on a hill in Elgin deemed similar to the one in KwaZulu Natal where the battle of Spioenkop was fought during the Anglo Boer. The estate is co-owned by Belgian couple Koen and Lore Roose, with Koen, former Sommelier and ex engineer, fulfilling the role of Viticulturist, Winemaker and Cellar master. Known to be somewhat ‘crazy’, Koen has traditionally exported most of his wines to his native Belgium and is known for his dry-style Riesling. Today it is widely regarded as South Africa’s best Riesling and takes 5 years to show its best, with decades of potential.
