Notes
"The panel was made in a studio in an old ceramic factory in Chirignago, outside Venice on the mainland. The plank, probably pine wood, is one of the many planks abandoned when the ceramic factory closed. I knocked the knots in the plank out and replaced them with ceramic shards which were in abundance. The plank was further adorned by a labour-intensive hand-carved wavy pattern (intaglio), a draftman's triangle and a lion, inspired by St. Mark, the patron saint of the Veneto. It was shipped back to South Africa with similar works and exhibited at a solo show the Market Theatre Gallery soon after."
