This lot consists of the following wines:
KWV Muscadel 1930 (1 x 750ml)
KWV Muscadel Jerepigo 1953 (1 x 750ml)
Mont Blois Estate Muscadel Superior 1984 (1 x 750ml)

Although thought to be from Paarl and Wellington grapes and late-bottled in the 1970s, little is known about these specific wines. With high sugar, low pH and fortification from alcohol, their ability to age is almost unmatched.

Critics Ratings

KWV Muscadel 1930:
'Green-tinged with bright yellow, burgundy and brown hues. Notes of baked prunes, raisins, earth, tobacco, star anise, roasted nuts, toffee and cold coffee show off an impressive depth of complexity. The palate is towering and rich with a firm acidity – the decades of ageing have melted the sugary sweetness into waves of joy. Astonishingly pure, yet completely exotic, the finish is hedonistic and extremely long.' - Roland Peens, 95/100 (Apr 2017)

KWV Muscadel Jerepigo 1953:
The 1953 KWV Muscadel Jerepigo was awarded double gold medals while also receiving the Golden Oldie Trophy.
