A pair of Japanese inlaid bronze baluster vases, Meiji period (1868-1912)
decorated in gold, shakudo and copper relief inlay, one carved in low relief with Kinko Sennin holding a scroll in his left hand astride a carp, the other with a three-claw dragon, Ryūjin, with his assistant astride holding the Tama, the reverse with a shishi amongst a rocky outcrop with peonies and magnolias, the lower section with two pairs of contesting dragons, one pair in relief, the other incised, the shoulders applied with elephant handles, the neck with a stylised flower, 31,4cm high
