About the SessionJust how well do modern-era South African wines perform as they get older ? One of the most important measures of great wine is that it should be age-worthy, that is it should become more pleasurable and more interesting to drink with time in the bottle.

About this Item
Cape Point Vineyards has one of the Cape's most unique locations, situated on the narrow southern tip of the Cape Peninsula, where it is set rather majestically against the slopes of the famous Chapman’s Peak mountain range and overlooks the nearby Atlantic Ocean – a mere 1,2km’s away. They pioneered the area, single-handedly creating a Wine of Origin demarcation, and established an international reputation and benchmark for unique and age-worthy white wines, most prominently Bordeaux whites.
Critics Ratings
‘Seductively subtle, with spicy perfume and wild nettle notes, borne on creamy lees texture, partly wooded 2013 shows real class.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2015, 4*
'A wine that reflects its wind-blown site as much as its variety, this is another impressive Reserve bottling from Cape Point, showing skillful oak handling and remarkable focus, line and length. Stony and wild with a tangy finish that goes on for over a minute. Drink: 2015-20.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2015, 94/100
'The 2013 Sauvignon Blanc is blended with 8% Semillon and raised in 600-liter French barrels. There is a lovely touch of licorice that comes through on the nose that is full of character and vigor. The palate is well-balanced with superb weight and that menthol character just coming through on the finish.' – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Oct 2014)
