Naudé Wines is the culmination of a journey that began more than 30 years ago. Since the first harvest, Ian Naudé has worked all over the world, hoping to craft wines that tell a story of time and place.

'I love the diversity we have in South Africa. Not just of the people, but the soils, the microclimates, and the wine varietals that thrive under their own unique conditions. I’m fortunate to have been introduced to a few of these vineyards, and work with some of the wonderful grapes that they produce, many of these from certified old vines. The grapes on these vines are storied, complex and unique. Each year they represent something different – whatever nature allows them – and with any luck, I don’t get in the way.' - Ian Naude, Winemaker

100% Chenin Blanc, this wine represents a blend of terroirs with the grapes coming from 35-50 year old vines in the Swartland and Durbanville.

‘Noteworthy 2015 from old Swartland/Durbanville bushvines, barrel fermented/aged, oxidatively made. Complex perfume - quince, tangerine, floral notes - but flavour is pure mineral, almost saline, with focused freshness. No 2014.’ - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2019, 4.5* (92/100)

'Perfumed apple skins, boiled green apple bon bons, musk and waxy incense. Palate is youthful, sleek, and light on its feet. Acids are soft and rounded by extra lees contact making this wine so creamy, luxurious, and voluptuous. Very opulent and youthful but should evolve nicely.' - Greg Sherwood MW, (94/100)

‘The 2015 Old Vines Chenin Blanc comes from 40-year-old vines in Swartland and Durbanville. It has a lifted sea spray and light hazelnut bouquet, with subtle chalky notes underneath and a hint of wet wool. The palate is well balanced, displaying a slightly waxy texture on the entry, and notes of tangerine, mandarin, wet wool and light toffee toward the fresh finish. This Chenin is probably more about the texture than overt flavors, yet is well crafted and cerebral.’ - Neal Martin, Vinous, 91/100 (Aug 2018)
