A George III oak longcase clock, D Seddon, Frodsham, mid 18th century
the 31cm silvered dial engraved with flowerheads and roman numerals, the outer dial with arabic numerals, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds and date dial, signed 'D Seddon, Frodsham', with pierced steel hands and figural spandrels, four pillar rack and bell striking movement, the glazed hood with swan-neck pediment applied gilt flowerheads terminals, brass capped hood pillars, with cross-banded arched trunk door, the base with canted and part-fluted corners inlaid with heart-shaped motifs, on bracket feet, 196cm high
