Critics Ratings
'The 2013 Family Cabernet Franc (formerly just "Cabernet Franc") comes from the two best and oldest vineyards, matured for 18 months in barrel with around 20% new oak. It has a well defined, red berry, star anis and oregano-scented bouquet that is very well defined, gradually unfurling in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin matched by perfectly judged acidity. It is supremely well focused, and classic in style with hints of tobacco and black pepper towards the finish. There is huge potential here.' - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 93/100
'Vibrant 13, with subtle aromas of berry, spice & undergrowth, needs time in the glass to unfold & reveal its potential. Balanced & elegant, it has beautiful ripe tannins, an energising freshness & unobtrusive oaking (25% new)' Platter SA Wine Guide 2016, 4.5*
'Cabernet Franc is known for its fragrance and the 2013 from Raats Family Wines is particularly so with a definite leafiness to go with red and black fruit plus attractive oak-derived notes, the wine having been matured for 18 months in French oak, 25% new. The palate meanwhile displays pure fruit, fresh acidity and fine tannins. It’s finely crafted as you’d expect from this producer' - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za 2016, 92/100
