First Verse 2011

This auction is being conducted during a National State of Disaster in South Africa and in accordance with the various Regulations passed by the Government in South Africa in response. Presently, South Africa’s National State of Disaster is at Level 4, which limits certain commercial activity.

In the result and in order to ensure that this auction can proceed in a manner that is compliant with the Regulations and for as long as the national state of disaster remains in place and subject to Regulations applicable to each Level, Strauss & Co will not be able to make available for collection, any item that is not listed in the Regulations until after the lockdowns have been lifted or the Level has been reduced to a point at which such items can be collected or transported.

In respect of the auction of works of art, decorative arts and jewellery, the auction will proceed and sale will be concluded in accordance with our amended terms and conditions. At the fall of the hammer, you will become obliged to pay for these lots against receipt of an invoice and such works will be made available for collection as Regulations allow.

In respect of the auction of wine lots, the auction of these lots will be conducted in accordance with our amended terms on the basis that the sale of wine will be deferred. At the fall of the hammer, you will become obliged to pay for these lots against receipt of our invoice. The sale, transfer of ownership and collection of wine will however be deferred until such time as the Regulations allow for the sale of wine. Our amended terms cover these issues in full.

Any further participation in this auction constitutes acceptance of these terms, which are in any event contained in the amended terms applicable to the auction and available on the websites of Invaluable and Strauss & Co.
