The present lot forms part of a series of work titled Small Paintings.
'Each picture is painted from life, in a single sitting. Immediately after completion they are photographed and put online, appearing approximately to scale on a laptop screen. Almost as a respite from a preoccupation with the abstractions of media dealt with in my studio work, this series is the result of experiments with narrowing the separations between lived experience and painting, and between painting and internet picture'—Ian Grose 1
