Granted as a grazing farm to Jan Oberholzer in 1712 before being acquired by Hans Von Carlowitz in 1929, Uitkyk is situated in Klapmuts in the Cape Winelands. The Carlonet is what Uitkyk is renowned for and it is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cinsaut. The name Carlonet is a combination of the first winemakers name Carlo and the Net coming from the net at the Cabernet.

This wine has been checked and re-corked by Amorim cork under supervision of auction curator Higgo Jacobs, assuring provenance, quality and long life. Seal code zw-111134, xq-671327 can be traced on Amorim Recorking Directory

Critics Ratings

‘Generally quite shy on the nose but notes of red berries, tomato cocktail and some leafiness can be detected. The palate is light-bodied and energetic with fine tannins. That said, the drinking experience is quite fleeting – what fruit remains, fades fast and this elegant wine should not be left long once open.’ - Chistian Eedes, 92/100 (Apr 2022)

‘Not quite the pristine structure of the tasting 10 years ago. Possibly on downward curve. However, still incredibly elegant, mature Cabernet with herbal nuance and light, elevated red fruit profile. Filigree, powdery tannins add grip to the finish.’ - Higgo Jacobs (Apr 2022)
