Michael Ellis

Michael Ellis is an accountant by profession, joining Abstral Diamonds in 1974 as an Accountant and Sales Representative. In 1976, when his principal emigrated, Michael purchased the business himself, the beginning of what would become over four decades of hands-on diamond trading.

Under his stewardship, the business prospered, and in 1981 he joined the prestigious Diamond Dealers Club of South Africa, a founding member of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses. Over the following 42 years, he served the Club in various capacities, including as Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Treasurer, and he holds Honorary Life Membership today.

With more than 40 years of experience trading in polished diamonds, Michael has mastered the complexities of the modern diamond trade, establishing himself as a highly qualified diamond specialist whose expertise spans the full evolution of the industry over five decades.
