Jo Voysey
Art Education Specialist

Jo Voysey is a South African lecturer, researcher and artist currently navigating different roles
within the art education sector. Her academic work, which includes a Master of Fine Art from the
Michaelis School of Fine Art (UCT), focuses on the intersection of painting, affect, and crisis. With
over a decade of experience in higher education, Voysey has lectured at several of South Africa’s
leading institutions including Michaelis School of Fine Art, UCT, CPUT, DUT and Stellenbosch
University where she currently lectures second and third year painting. In addition to her role as an
educator, Voysey has been a long-term assistant to renowned artist Penny Siopis. In this role, she
has managed complex archival projects, artwork restoration, and international project management
for major retrospectives.


She continues to practise as an artist working with painting as a medium to explore moments of
peace in an ever changing world of chaos.
