He has helped value major private and corporate collections in South Africa. As a practising painter and graphic artist, lan explores nature through expressive screenprints. The Overberg coast is known for its scenic fynbos, wildlife, and seascapes, attracting artists and authors for many years. These include notable figures like Gregoire Boonzaier, Elsa Joubert, Uys Krige, Hennie Niemann, Jan Rabie, and Marjorie Wallace. Strauss & Co curated a FynArts exhibition highlighting local art heritage and emerging talent from Hermanus and nearby areas.
