Masterclass on Irma Stern: Leading Modernist Artist
Dr Alastair Meredith, renowned art historian and Head of the Strauss & Co Art Department, presents a Masterclass on South African modernist artists.
The talk will focus on Irma Stern, coinciding with the exhibition Irma Stern: A Modern Artist Between Berlin and Cape Town at Brücke Museum in Berlin. Alastair will discuss Stern’s contribution in the context of Strauss & Co’s parallel exhibition, Seeing Ourselves: South African Portraits Past and Present. The exhibition celebrates the important genre of portraiture.
