Mary Sibande is the 2025 Festival Artist. A key figure in contemporary African art, Mary uses her practice to address social issues and reclaim agency for Black women in South Africa’s visual and cultural landscape.
Ngkopoleng, editor of ArtThrob, the contemporary visual arts publication, will engage in a compelling
conversation with Mary about her life, artistic journey, and the inspirations that shape her work.
Mary’s thought-provoking exhibition, I GOT UP AT…, will be on view in the FynArts Gallery, offering festival-goers an opportunity to experience her powerful and visionary storytelling.
