About this Item

Clos de Vougeot Pres le Cellier, Vosne-Romanee 1er Aux Brulees, Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Chaumes, 2009
6 (3 x 2) 750ml

Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of Burgundy’s star properties and is known for its concentrated, rich and serious wines. Until 30 years ago, most of the domaine's vineyards were leased out and the wine was sold to négociants. The domaine only began bottling in 1985 and the various sharecropping agreements, including one with Henri Jayer, have all come to an end. Today, Jean-Nicolas Méo and Christian Faurois, a former sharecropper turned right-hand man, manage the domaine and produce some of the Côte d'Or’s finest wines. The domaine now proudly holds 2.5 hectares of Grands Crus and 8 hectares in some of the finest Premier Cru sites in Nuits-St-Georges and Vosne-Romanée. Most of the vineyards are farmed organically.

Critics Ratings

Domaine Méo-Camuzet Clos de Vougeot Près le Cellier 2009

‘The 2009 Clos de Vougeot Près le Cellier is a dark, sumptuous wine that shows quite a bit more textural richness and depth than the Grand Montpertuis bottling. There is a layered quality to the fruit I find especially appealing here. This is made from the estate's larger piece in Clos de Vougeot measuring 2.7 hectares that Méo has christened Près le Cellier. Méo says the terrain here yields rich wines, but the wines themselves tell a different story, at least in 2009. Drinking window 2019 - 2034.’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 90-93/100 (May 2011)

Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Aux Brulées 2009

‘The 2009 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées from Méo-Camuzet is superb, offering up an alluring nose of sweet black fruit, exotic spices, rich soil and subtle espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and expansive, with grand cru depth and dimension, its fine-grained tannins entirely enveloped in luscious dark fruit, its acids cool and controlled. The Aux Brûlées is routinely one of Jean-Nicolas Méo's finest wines, and the 2009 vintage is no exception. Drink 2018 - 2030.’ – William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 94/100 (Jan 2018)

Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes 2009

‘Dark fruit flavors of black currant and blackberry grace this velvety red, whose dusty tannins and acidity keep it focused and lingering. Balanced in a large-scaled way, with a tight finish. Be patient. Best from 2015 through 2030.’ – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (May 2012)

‘An exuberantly spicy nose of sexy blue and black pinot fruit gives way to fresh and energetic medium weight flavors that exude a fine minerality on the extract-rich, firm and beautifully balanced finish where a touch of wood surfaces. This is really very pretty and a quintessential Vosne.’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 90-92/100 (Jan 2011)
