Strauss & Co’s wine department offers the finest and rarest wines from the best collections worldwide. Strauss & Co has established benchmark prices and achieved new records for celebrated South African wines — from Boekenhoutskloof, Kanonkop Estate, Klein Constantia, Meerlust and The Sadie Family, including an enticing array of the most sought-after wines, spanning over 150 years,  such as The Coats Family Cellar — arguably the most prestigious fine wine private cellar ever offered in South Africa. 

The fine wine team takes all possible steps to ensure wines are of good and credible provenance. Wines are sourced from private sellers, Wine Cellar clients and Wine producers. Unknown cellars are inspected and tasted and, unless indicated, all wines are offered in perfect condition. Each bottle is inspected by the team of specialists and a condition report is attached to each lot. Once a wine is selected for an auction it is stored in a designated Strauss & Co auction area at Wine Cellar in Observatory, Cape Town.
