Matthew Partridge (b. 1982 Pietermaritzburg) brings with him a keen interest in contemporary South African art which is revealed by his diverse background in the field. After completing his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English Literature and Art History at The University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, he began working as an art critic for the Mail & Guardian, followed by a year lecturing Art History at Rhodes University in 2010 where ran a post-graduate seminar program focussing on South Africa photography.
After obtaining an MA from WITS University, Partridge went on to direct the 4th edition of the Cape Town Art Fair in 2016 which saw the event move to the CTICC. Most recently he went on to founder Adjective, a magazine dedicated to contemporary South African art criticism which launched it first print edition in February 2017.
