1900 Pinotage, 2011
12 (2 x 6) 750ml
Spioenkop was established in 1998 and is located on a hill in Elgin deemed similar to the one in KwaZulu Natal where the battle of Spioenkop was fought during the Anglo Boer, with the 1900 range named after the year the battle took place. The estate is co-owned by Belgian couple Koen and Lore Roose, with Koen, former Sommelier and ex engineer, fulfilling the role of Viticulturist, Winemaker and Cellar master. Known to be somewhat ‘crazy’, Koen has traditionally exported most of his wines to his native Belgium and produced the only Pinotage to earn 5* in the 2014 Platter’s Guide. It has quickly become one of SA’s top Pinotages.
