Jewellery Week at Strauss & Co

Strauss & Co is delighted to host valuation days, lectures and exclusive jewellery appreciation courses in Johannesburg and Cape Town to be conducted by internationally acclaimed jewellery expert, Joanna Hardy.

For more than 30 years Joanna Hardy has led a “jewelled” existence. From valuing and auctioning the tiaras and pearls of the aristocracy at Sotheby’s international to trading diamonds in Antwerp or appearing on the Antiques Roadshow, there is little Joanna doesn’t know about gems. She now runs The Jewellery School of Excellence in London where she is able to share her passion and vast knowledge of the fascinating world of jewels in her series of jewellery appreciation classes.

The One-day Jewellery Master Class which she will be conducting at Strauss & Co in August presents a glamorous guide to the complexities of the jewellery world and a hands-on approach to assessing gems and jewels. The classes promise to give all participants a lasting appreciation of this often over-looked art form and clues on how to be more discerning when it comes to recognising and valuing jewellery – for its social and historical importance as well as its price. Joanna’s expert insider knowledge offers new insights into the skill and craftsmanship required to create beautiful jewels that stand the test of time.
